Week #5 CSA Food Box: Broccoli, Roasted Red Pepper, and Cheddar Soup Recipe

Tuesday, May 11th, 2010

This soup was seriously good.  Zach altered it from a chowder recipe on Epicurious.  It was a meal in itself and we served it with John’s homemade bread (same recipe as his pizza dough but put into a round loaf form) and salad greens from the CSA food box.

Taqueria La Bamba: Mountian View

Monday, May 10th, 2010

La Bamba is a litle Taqueria in Mountain View that serves pupusas.  Pupusas are Salvadoran pork, bean, and cheese stuffed masa flatbread with curtido and a light, watery tomato salsa.  Curtido is a lightly fermented cabbage slaw with red chillies.

On yelp people have written that the burritos at La Bamba are some of the best in the South Bay.  I have to say, go with the Pupusas!

Parking is slim and there aren’t any tables inside but one so you sit at a low counter with chairs around the periphery of the Taqueria.  Cheap and tasty!

Week #4 CSA Food Box: Crispy Baked Leek & Kale Chips Recipe

Sunday, May 9th, 2010

The crispy kale and leeks are like chips.  They are crunchy and the salt makes them really tasty and addictive.  This recipe is simple to make and you can cut some cals!
